Four El Paso organizations establish the City Basketball League. Inaugural members include the School of Mines, El Paso High School, YMCA, and Cactus Club. This is the first organized league with a set season schedule in which the Miners participate. — El Paso Times

Henry Trost of the architectural firm Trost and Trost travels to Austin to lobby for the commission to design the new buildings for the School of Mines. The firm of Gibson & Robertson had already begun work on the project at the request of Dean Steve Worrell. — University of Texas President’s Office Records
1918
The El Paso Herald argues that the best way of keeping the young men and women of El Paso from leaving the city is to merge the College of the City of El Paso with the School of Mines. — El Paso Herald
