Paso del Norte campus groundbreaking
1917
Construction begins on the new Paso del Norte campus. The structures will replace the Lanoria Mesa campus adjacent to Fort Bliss, which suffered a devastating fire the previous October. –El Paso Herald

To boost enrollment, athletics supporters of the College of Mines propose a season ticket campaign. –El Paso Herald

President John Barry admonishes the registrar of the University of Texas at Austin for claiming UT El Paso, then known as the College of Mines and Metallurgy of the University of Texas, was no longer a part of the U.T. System. –U.T. President’s Office Records
