The U.T. Board of Regents elects Dossie M. Wiggins to the presidency of the College of Mines. His appointment is effective September 1. –University of Texas System Board of Regents
1981
On a 7-2 vote, the U.T. Board of Regents approves the construction of a new $28.8 million library for UTEP. One regent who opposed the motion claimed that every other U.T. System campus would want a new library now that UTEP was getting one. –Prospector
