The Texas Legislature considers changing the name of the school to the Texas State College of Mines and Arts—a decidedly unpopular choice amongst the engineering students and alumni of the College of Mines. However, students in the arts and sciences division, who outnumber students enrolled in engineering by a factor of four, favor the change. –Prospector
